About PDF to JPG
Renders each page of a PDF as a JPG image. All pages by default; put a range like 1-3,5 in the page box to convert only those.
When JPG is the right choice: scans, photographed contracts, documents with photos, anything you will send to someone or paste into a chat. It is lossy at a fixed quality of 0.92 — visually indistinguishable in practice, and a fraction of the size of PNG. A scanned page as JPG is often a third to a fifth of the same page as PNG.
Picking the scale: 1.33 is roughly 96 dpi, enough for on-screen viewing; 2 is roughly 144 dpi and is the default; 3 is roughly 216 dpi for printing or reading small print, at the cost of size. Higher scale means slower rendering and more memory.
The output is an image, not a document. Text becomes pixels: no selection, no search, no copy, and no text layer for a reader to pick up. If your goal is extracting text, converting to images is the long way round — use OCR or pull the text out of the PDF directly.
JPG has no transparency, so the background is painted white during rendering. A PDF is normally white paper anyway; if the source had a transparent background it comes out white here rather than transparent — for transparency use PNG (though see the note on the PDF to PNG page about PDF rendering).
Large documents use a lot of memory and the page may stall briefly; let it finish. Multiple pages can be downloaded together as a zip.
Rendering happens in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Can I select the text in the output?
No. As an image the text is pixels — not searchable, not copyable. Use OCR if you need text.
Why is my file taking so long?
Higher scale and more pages both cost time. For long documents, convert the first few pages to check the result before doing the whole file.
JPG or PNG — which should I pick?
JPG for scans and photos (smaller files); PNG for screenshots, charts, line art and text-heavy pages (lossless and sharper).
Can I convert only pages 2 and 5?
Yes — put 2,5 in the page box, or 2-5 for a range. Leave it empty for all pages.
The output is not sharp enough?
Set the scale to 3 and convert again. If the PDF itself is a low-resolution scan, a higher scale only enlarges it.
Is the file uploaded?
No, rendering and export happen in the browser.
