About Batch Image Compressor

Drop a batch of images, set quality, longest edge and output format, and they all go through the same settings in one click. Each row shows the original size, the new size and the saving; download one by one or as a zip.

Why it runs one at a time

Decoding a dozen large photos at once easily eats a gigabyte or two of memory and freezes the tab. So the queue processes them sequentially and shows "Compressing 3/8". Slower, but it will not crash.

Quality is not a percentage

10–100 is the encoder setting. 75 is a safe default: most photos look identical and drop to about a third of the size. Capping the longest edge helps even more on phone photos — 4000px down to 1920px halves the file.

PNG will not shrink

PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does nothing for it. Switch the output to JPG or WebP, or try a single file in the image compressor first.

Frequently asked questions

How many images at once?

No hard limit, but stay under 30 per batch. The longer the queue, the more memory the tab holds — and do not close it mid-run.

Do file names change?

Each output gets a -min suffix with the matching extension. Duplicate names are numbered automatically in the zip.

Why did one file get bigger?

If the source was already heavily compressed (an optimised WebP, say), re-encoding adds bytes. Those rows say no saving — just skip them.
