About Image Cropper

Drop an image, drag out the area you want to keep, or pick a common ratio. Cropping, rotating and flipping all run in your browser with canvas — the file is never uploaded.

Selecting an area

The selection starts at the full image. Drag inside it to move, drag a corner or edge handle to resize, and use the arrow keys for 1px nudges (Shift for 10px). Pick a ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9 and resizing keeps that ratio locked.

Output size

Leave both boxes blank and the result keeps the selection's native pixels — no scaling, no resampling. Fill in one box and the other follows the selection's ratio, so a 1080x1080 square is just 1080 in the width box.

Formats

With Auto, a PNG stays PNG (the alpha channel survives) and everything else becomes JPG. Pick PNG to keep transparency, WebP for the smallest file.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping hurt image quality?

Not if you keep the size. When the output size equals the selection's native pixels it is a straight pixel copy with no resampling. Only a larger number in the output box triggers interpolation.

Why does the selection reset after rotating?

The base image changed size (1920x1080 becomes 1080x1920), so the old coordinates no longer point at the same area. Resetting to the full image is safer than leaving a misplaced box.

Which formats are supported?

Anything the browser can decode — in practice JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame) and BMP. Output can be JPG, PNG or WebP.
