Strip HTML Tags

About Strip HTML Tags

Strips every tag out of a block of HTML and leaves only the text a person would read.

Each option earns its place. "Remove script and style" is on by default: the contents of <script> and <style> are not meant to be read, and if you delete only the tags the page's JavaScript ends up mixed into your plain text — the most common way this kind of tool goes wrong. "Keep paragraph breaks" turns <br>, </p> and </div> into newlines, without which a whole article collapses onto one line. "Decode HTML entities" turns &amp;, &nbsp; and &#39; back into &, a space and an apostrophe.

Useful for copying content off a page, pulling the body out of scraped HTML, or cleaning rich text saved by a CMS. All of it happens locally; nothing you paste is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why is JavaScript code showing up in my result?

"Remove script and style" is off. Deleting tags but not their contents leaves the script body behind as text.

All my line breaks disappeared — what now?

Enable "Keep paragraph breaks"; it converts br and block-level closing tags into newlines.

Can it restore things like &amp;?

Yes. Turn on "Decode HTML entities"; &nbsp; becomes a space too.

Does this send my HTML to a server?

No, all of it runs in your browser.
